Shanghai Dumplings in San Gabriel Valley – The Best of the Best

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I’m on a mission to find the best Shanghai dumplings (小籠包) out there and what better way to search than to try out all the popular spots in San Gabriel Valley. I made sure to visit the top 4 Shanghai dumpling restaurants the region had to offer, and three happened to be right next to each other in the Prospect Plaza.

JONASAPPROVED Top 4 Shanghai Dumpling Restaurants (linked to their Yelp reviews):
1. J & J Restaurant
2. Mei Long Village
3. Din Tai Fung (Old location)
4. Dragon Mark (一條龍)

According to Chowhound, I still have two more places to try (that aren’t so popular):

Taiwan Restaurant – Old-time favorite

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

One of the most popular restaurants on Clement St. Their food is not bad, it is cheap, closes relatively late. Their Shanghai dumplings are popular but I don’t think the guailo knows what they’re talking about – they’re thick and there’s vegetables mixed with the meat?! Stick to their other other house favorites like their radish cakes, potstickers, house special spareribs and their other cheap eats.
