Experience CozmoDeck – $15 off your Bill at Participating SF/LA Restaurants

Friday, December 21st, 2007

I was doing last minute online shopping, and I was trying to figure out what to get my brother and his girlfriend aside from the Jersey Boy tickets, I stumbled upon CozmoDeck. What the hell is this?

Basically it’s a collection of 52 participating San Francisco or Los Angeles swanky restaurant gift cards. Each card has a $15 coupon off the entire bill (you have to spend $50 or more though to use the coupon). And if you use coupon code “af” you get 10% off your purchase.

For $65 you can customize your deck with any 52 restaurants from the list, but personally I think the $30 one is a better deal! I’m excited to get it, but I’ll probably have to give it to my brother and his girlfriend late since they still have to ship it to me. Boo.

And if you’re in the New York area, I know they have the cityshuffle which is a similiar concept, but more options.

Red Cafe – Mexican breakfast for lunch

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Breakfast served til 2pm. I love Mexican breakfast. There’s something about the way they scramble their eggs that just makes them taste so much better than other scrambled eggs.

I got a tip from Yelp: try two things – the chilaquila and the oatmeal pancakes. I made two visits, and sure enough, they were amazing.

Jollibee – The McDonald’s of the Filipinos

Jollibee, home of fried chicken with gravy, mango pie and sweet spaghetti.

Jollibee is slowly expanding in California, but one of the original spots is the one in Daly City. Eating at Jollibee brings back memories from my childhood when I used to live in the Philippines. I even remember having a Jollibee toothbrush that I think came with a happy meal.

It’s food certainly has unique flavors, but my favorite is their spaghetti. I don’t usually eat fast food, but where else can i get sweet spaghetti at 11pm?

If you’re my friend and you haven’t been to a Jollibee yet, let me know and we can go some time.

Caesar’s Italian Restaurant – Jonas’ Thanksgiving dinner

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

My family hasn’t cooked for Thanksgiving for a few years now. We’ve done the whole turkey, etc. dinner before, but it’s just so much work, especially since we don’t even have relatives to share with. In the past few years, we’ve been eating out.

During Thanksgiving, a lot of restaurant are opened and serve a special Thanksgiving pre fixe menu. (A list was available at Open Table. This year we had Thanksgiving dinner at Caesar’s Italian Restaurant on Bay St. The entrees were okay, but I think the side pasta was the best. I’ll definitely have to go there for the pasta.

Chinese-owned American brunch spot towards the end of Clement St. with brunch meals averaging at about $7. Well worth the money! Just look at that eggs benedict and “Joe’s Scramble”!
