Virgin America was so welcoming. Right at check-in I felt like there was a huge welcome wagon waiting for me.I actually missed my flight but they were very nice and accomodating about putting me on the next available plane, as are most airlines.
While waiting at the gate, I overheard an employee introducing another employee to a customer as his assigned “personal assistant” during the trip. (I assume he has some sort of handicap or disability, though he seemed very normal, and with a son.) Where can I sign up for one?
“Guests” – not customers – with infants and small children were boarded first. Everyone else boarded in order of assigned letter – A, B, C.
The inside of the plane is very hip, trendy and clean: purple lighting, white walls, comfortable black leather seatings – It’s like a party! The seating space was not as roomy as I had hoped and was just normal, but I guess you can’t win them all.
So the personal tv monitor – it deserves an entry itself, not that it’s going to get one. There’s so much to do on it that a one hour flight from SFO to LAX is just not long enough! Everyone got their choice of earphone(s) and/or headphone(s) – yes, some people took more than one. The two-sided remote control retracted from the handrest, one side being a remote and the other being a control pad/QWERTY keypad. Watch tv, watch movies, play video games, join chatrooms (yes, you can chat with other passengers!), listne to music (which even includes Mandarin pop, Cantonese pop, Korean pop, Japanese pop and Latin pop). There are some other very cool features. A couple features were not yet launched such as the “Read” section and the “WWW” (free internet?!) section. Also, premium features costed a few bucks.
Next time, I have to take this airline to the east coast just so I have more time to play around.
